Where conventional gum surgery means a blade and sutures, a dental laser treats the tissue directly. It seals as it works, so there is less bleeding, generally no stitches, and healing is quicker.
We use it for gum reshaping and contouring, for treating inflamed and infected gum tissue, and for the soft tissue work that often needs doing before a restoration can be fitted properly.
The practical difference for patients is comfort. Less anaesthesia in many cases, less swelling afterwards, and a shorter recovery before you are eating normally again.
It is not a replacement for everything, and we will not use it where the conventional approach is genuinely the better tool. It is one instrument among several, chosen when it gives a better result.
