Missing teeth affect more than confidence. Chewing shifts to the other side, the teeth beside the gap start to drift, and the jawbone under the space gradually loses density. An implant addresses all of that by replacing the root itself, not just the visible part of the tooth.
The fixture is a titanium post placed into the jawbone under local anaesthesia. Once the bone has integrated around it, which takes a few months, the final crown is fitted on top and shaded to match the teeth on either side.
We plan the site first, based on your bone and the tooth being replaced, so you know the full timeline before anything starts. The placement itself is a single appointment. The waiting is the part patients tend not to expect, which is exactly why we map it out at the first consultation rather than partway through.
Implants suit single missing teeth, several teeth in a row, and cases where a bridge would mean cutting down healthy teeth on either side. Where an implant is not the right call, we will say so and go through the alternatives with you.
