A filling is the treatment you want to need, because it means the decay was caught while it was still small. Left longer, the same cavity reaches the nerve and becomes a root canal.
We use tooth coloured composite, bonded into the cleaned cavity and shaped to your bite. It is durable, and once it is polished it does not read as dental work.
Sealants are the preventive side of the same problem. Back teeth have deep grooves a toothbrush cannot properly reach, and that is where decay starts in children. A sealant fills those grooves with a thin protective coating. It takes minutes, needs no drilling, and it is one of the highest value things you can do for a child's teeth.
If a filling is all that is needed, a filling is what we will recommend. A fair number of our patients arrive here for exactly that reason, having been told elsewhere that they needed something bigger.
